Details:
Barbara was known to be punctual and reliable so when she didn't show up for work as an Emergency Room,
Registration Supervisor at Riverside Community Hospital, her co-workers filed a missing person's report.

Barbara was 5 months pregnant. She was carrying the child of a man she'd been dating, but he wasn't happy
about being a father. In response, Barbara prepared documents releasing him from legal responsibility to the child.
On March 2, 2001 called a friend and told her she was planning to meet her ex-boyfriend so that he could sign the
papers. That's the last time anyone saw or heard from Barbara.

Authorities interviewed Derrick Latimer, the father of her unborn child. He told Detectives that the day before
Barbara was reported missing, he was to come over to her place for dinner. But he said that he fell asleep at 4:30
p.m. at his condo, didn't wake until the next morning and then went to the beach.

When police entered Barbara's home, they searched for evidence that she had recently prepared a meal. They
found her kitchen "immaculate," with no dirty dishes and no pots on the stove.
Latimer was interviewed several times in the days that followed. They found him cooperative, and found no
evidence of foul play in his home or truck. However, Authorities still consider him a suspect in Barbara's
disappearance.

Family would later learn that Latimer was a registered sex offender convicted in 1993 of rape by force or fear. He
remains registered and living in Anderson, S.C.
