Hair: Gray Eyes: Blue Race/Sex: White, Male Carl was last seen wearing a rust colored coat and black ski pants with layered clothing underneath. He had on hiking boots with crampons and was carrying a day pack. Details: Carl Landers of Orinda, California, disappeared on May 22, 1999, during a hiking excursion on Mt. Shasta with friends. He was last seen leaving Camp 50-50, where he and two climbing partners spent the night before their planned climb to the summit. The next morning, Carl complained of feeling poorly and left ahead of his partners. When his partners didn't catch up with him they became worried and reported him missing. Carl was considered a physically fit runner and climber; he was dressed appropriately for the elements and carried enough food and water to survive in an emergency. Despite an intensified effort, searchers in air and on ground were unable to find any sign of him. Carl remains missing.
