He was last seen wearing a short sleeved white or light colored t-shirt, jeans and black shoes. He may
have a scruffy white beard.

Details:
George Carpenter, a retired Lieutenant with the Morro Bay Police Department, drove away from his home
in San Luis Obispo on Dec. 23, 2009, with his Black Labrador, and headed to Laguna Lake Park. He has
not been seen or heard from since.
His vehicle is described as a gray Jeep, which has California license plates 3W27270 and a "Darwin" fish
with legs decal. His credit card hasn't been used since he disappeared, and he doesn't carry a cell
phone.

Family describes George as an avid hiker in good physical shape. He takes medication for dementia and
for a bipolar disorder but does not have his prescriptions with him. Without his medication, he is likely
disoriented.

Update:
*On Jan. 20th, the dog belonging to George Carpenter has been found near the Big Sur coastal community
of Gorda off of Highway 1 about 40 miles north of Cambria.
*On Jan. 23rd, George Carpenter's locked vehicle was found outside the grounds of Fort Hunter Liggett in
Monterey County.
