Details:
George Carpenter, a retired Lieutenant with the Morro Bay Police Department, drove away from his home in San Luis Obispo on Dec. 23, 2009, with his Black Labrador dog. He was headed to Laguna Lake Park for the day. On Jan. 20th, his dog was found wandering near the Big Sur coastal community of Gorda, off of Highway 1 about 40 miles north of Cambria. Three days later, his vehicle, a gray Jeep was found outside the grounds of Fort Hunter Liggett in Monterey County. His credit card hasn't been used since he disappeared, and he doesn't carry a cell phone.
Family describes George as an avid hiker in good physical shape. He takes medication for dementia and for a bipolar disorder but does not have his prescriptions with him. Without his medication, he is likely disoriented.
