Details:
Maria was last seen at Piute Springs in the Mojave National Park, in San Bernardino County. The area is located about 40 miles northwest of Needles, California. Reportedly, she became separated from her 64-year-old male hiking companion when they went different directions at a fork in the trail to look for their vehicle. When Maria did not return, her companion began searching on his own, but waited until the following day to report her missing.
Despite a full scale search, Maria was never located.
